Google Assistant is getting its own version of Siri shortcut
Google has quietly updated the'Assistant (via Android Police) on Android_ to include a new Shortcuts interface. Similar to the Siri shortcuts on iOS., these features allow users to assign custom commands to apps and operations that interact with Google Assistant.
You will be able to find the new "Shortcuts" tab under the "Services" tab (if you have the new "Assistant" settings interface that scrolls alphabetically, you can scroll down to "Shortcuts").
After entering the tab, you will now see a list of apps that provide shortcuts and what these shortcuts are. Google will also show you recommended shortcuts based on the apps you use frequently. When you click on an application, you can also select these shortcuts and add them to your assistant. So far, it has been supported by many mainstream applications, including Twitter, WhatsApp, Snapchat, etc. Not all of these commands are useful. WhatsApp’s optional shortcuts are not particularly mainstream, and Snapchat only provides one option. But this is the beginning.
The purpose of the assistant is to speed up tasks on the phone by using voice and natural language. Shortcuts allow you to choose a trigger phrase that is easier or faster to speak for the action you choose to speed up this step. If you use Google Assistant a lot, there is no doubt that the shortcuts set correctly can help you speed up the work process.
For unconventional users, will these shortcuts encourage you to use Assistant more? Let us know in the comments below.
