Samsung announces four new camera sensors suitable for various mobile applications

Samsung announced the launch of four new camera sensors suitable for various mobile applications, thereby expanding the range of its 0.7μm pixel ISOCELL image sensor. The lineup includes 108MP ISOCELL HM2, the 64MP ISOCELL GW3, the 48MP ISOCELL GM5, and the 32MP ISOCELL JD1.

According to an official blog post, the new sensor is 15% smaller than a 0.8μm sensor of the same resolution and reduces the height of the camera module by up to 10%, which should allow phone manufacturers to make thinner and more streamlined phones.
The new sensor will also bring Samsung’s ISOCELL 2.0 pixel technology. The company claims that despite the challenges brought about by the reduced pixel size, it can still enhance performance. Although the pixel size is small, in order to collect enough light, Samsung uses ISOCELL Plus and Smart-ISO technology optimized for 0.7μm.
Surgery.
"ISOCELL Plus can retain the received light with a wall-like structure around the pixels, and Smart-ISO can make full use of the input by intelligently adjusting the ISO accordingly to obtain the best exposure...OCELL 2.0) technology further enhances the inter-unit According to the company’s official blog, the light sensitivity has increased by 12% compared with the current ISOCELL Plus technology."
HM2, GW3 and JD1 are currently in production, and the company is currently sampling GM5. When they will start to appear on smartphones is still uncertain, but we hope it will happen soon. At the same time, you can view more information on the Samsung official website, including all technical details about these new sensors.
