After testing about 1 million users in 2018, WhatsApp finally started to launch WhatsApp Pay for all users in India. The Facebook-owned company said its UPI payment solution is safe and anyone can send money easily. WhatsApp Pay will be available in ten Indian languages and will be launched through stable updates for Android and iOS.
Like Google Pay and other products, WhatsApp Pay is built on UPI. The National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI), the UPI payment infrastructure operator, said that WhatsApp can gradually expand its payment services to users. But it can only start with 20 million users and requires cooperation with multiple bank partners. WhatsApp said that it is working with five leading banks-ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, National Bank of India and Jio Payments Bank.
